VARCEL’S VIXENS RETURNS 2024
VARCEL’S VIXENS originated as a standalone comic in 1990 (Caliber Publishers), a spinoff from the Susan Van Camp/Randy Zimmerman collaborative comic “Tales From the Aniverse” (Arrow Comics, 1985).
Varcel and her Vixens first appeared in #2 of the Aniverse series as a swashbuckling group of opportunistic adventurers. She is featured in both #2 and #6 of the first series.
Van Camp and Zimmerman collaborated on Series 2 of Tales from the Aniverse with Massive Comics Group publishers. They then went on to individual projects.
Zimmerman continued in comics and publishing. Check out Arrow Comics Group to learn more about his influential career. Meanwhile, Van Camp contracted to create interior art for fantasy role playing games, such as Doomtown: Weird West Edition, among others, design cards with MAGIC THE GATHERING and other CCGs, and develop her fantasy art style. In the Mid 90’s Van Camp and her husband Mark Harmon created DragonStorm, a CCG roleplaying game, with their publishing company Black Dragon Press.
Despite leaving it behind, Van Camp remained open to new comics projects. After a hiatus from her career, she reunited with Zimmerman at the 2023 Really Cool Comic Con, Flint MI, and that is all it took. Arrow Comics is blooming again, and Zimmerman and Van Camp are working on a collaborative effort involving The Aniverse, Arrow Comics and one, maybe two new additions to Varcel’s Vixens! Initial dates for publishing were pushed forward to include a comic compendium in late 2024, but all that can be confirmed at this time is the Aniverse and Varcel’s Vixens will be entering our comic universe again.
